Meet our Instructors

DeKalb Park District Golf Instructors

We are very excited to have Pam Tyska (LPGA Professional), Curt Biarnesen (past PGA Professional), Ashley Anast (NIU Assistant Women’s Golf Coach) leading our golf instruction programs this year. The knowledge and expertise of these instructors will provide excellent opportunities for you to advance your game.

Pam Tyska

Women’s Golf Head Coach, NIU
LPGA & PGA

As NIU Women’s Head Coach since 1986 Pam knows exactly how to teach the fundamentals of the game in a way that leads to success. Pam has earned the respect of her peers, being selected to the elite group of clinicians for the NCAA’s Youth Education through Sports (YES) Clinics in 1993, 1995 and 1996. The clinics help potential collegiate golfers in their development, with discussions on the role of academics, goal-setting and mental skill development on and off the course as well as recruiting and admission requirements.

Jessica Struthers

Assistant Women’s Golf Coach, NIU

A three-year letterwinner at North Central College and graduate of DeKalb High School, Struthers joined the Huskies after working for the LPGA and the BMW Championship/Western Golf Association. Struthers spent two years as an intern with the LPGA, helping coordinate the 2009 Solheim Cup, held at Rich Harvest Farms. With the BMW Championships/WGA, Struthers served as a sales and marketing associate. At North Central, Struthers played a key role in leadership and mentoring, and served the community by volunteering with the Cress Creek Country Club Junior Golf Clinics. She was also a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), contributing as a student-athlete mentor.
